Quick PHP Code Tips and Examples

I've upgraded this blog to the current Wordpress release 2.1.3, the upgrade was necessary as it fixes several critical vulnerability (including XSS attack) in the scripts.

Additionally, I've upgraded my anti-spam plugin to Spam Karma 2.3. I prefer Spam Karma over Akismet because it doesn't rely on centralised offsite server to identify spams. Also, in my experience, Akismet has the tendency of allowing spams to pass-through its filter during peak hours.

This is not suprising because free akismet users are placed in low priority servers which won't be able to cope with the spam filtering process at the time of heavy server load.

However this is solely based on my own experience of using Spam Karma and Akismet, your mileage might varies as there are people who reported Akismet works better than Spam Karma in filtering comment spams.

p/s: Due to its simple Web API, Akismet is easy to be included in your own made php scripts as an anti spam solution. Please refer to Integrate Akismet anti-spam service in PHP Scripts, for a brief guide to do that.
